A terrified young woman sits restlessly on her chair as she faces her doctor. She has the look of a frightened bird about to take flight. Her body was tensed, her head keeps turning around as she glances nervously around the room.

Her doctor asked what she was so afraid of, and the woman shrugged and told him “I really don’t know.” She was obsessed with the thoughts of dying among other things. “I seem to have this “spells” ‘, she said. I was washing the dishes one day, and out of the blue, I feel so frightened, I can’t move, I was shaking and then I can’t catch my breath and next thing I knew I wanted to faint.”

She pauses for a moment “You think I’m crazy don’t you?”. The doctor shook his head “No…but I do think your are sick…you show signs of stress and anxiety and…you are suffering an anxiety over death.”

It has been said that anxiety is being afraid of an unknown danger whereas fear is being afraid of a definite and specific harm. For the nervous woman inside the doctor’s office, thinking her death is near and was real enough causes her so much fear. Her therapy with the doctor in weekly intervals have helped her understood a lot of things. The root of her anxiety? She was having a hard time accepting her aging process. She becomes aware of her own mortality.

LEARNING TO LIVE WITH ANXIETY

Sometimes we are anxious over things that don’t exist. We imprison ourselves unconsciously when we ought to be free and try to enjoy life a lot more. Of course, there are real dangers of which we are afraid. These are genuine threats to our security and stability like emotional and physical problems. To feel anxious and in need of professional help doesn’t mean that we are “crazy”. In today’s hectic world, all of us have good reasons to react to events. Events like global warming, terrorist attacks, tsunami and add to that, situations that we have to deal with our own personal lives.

From time to time, it is alright to have legitimate feelings of depression and anxiety. And if things can really go out of hand, a psychiatrist, psychologist, and counselors well-trained enough can provide the kind of help you need. But even with professional help, you must also do your part, you need to get busy and make use of what ever talents you have and not dwell on you “melancholic” moods.

With the proper perspective you can get out of your obstacles and find the way out being trap in the cycle of anxiety. Most often, people are anxious because they are mostly stuck in the past than living in the present. It is not just plain nostalgia but it seems their “present” situation is not the way they wanted to be. Dissatisfaction and the tendency of past failures and guilt dominates us and changes our personalities. In addition, to much preoccupation of the future robs us also of our joy. We worry too much on what lies ahead.

ACCEPT AND LET GO

We deny and we don’t learn to accept our imperfections. We hated ourselves…how we looked and how others perceived us. A lot of people doesn’t even like the sound of their voice while others can be downright embarrassed if they are fat and too skinny. We let this illusion of beauty, wealth and success on which we get from magazines, TV and even the Internet be the source of our misery as we constantly compare ourselves to others. It is only through acceptance and letting go if things which is external is one way of lessening our anxiety panic attacks.

Another clue to overcoming our anxieties is to know that we are not alone in our fears and worries. Anxiety is often an introspective activity and it thrives on isolation. But we don’t have to be alone. We are not strange and inferior. The moment you learn to accept who and what you are is also the time that you will discover that you are not set apart from everybody else.

Anxiety is a normal thing and that everyone goes through with life with it. However, it also doesn’t mean our anxieties will go away and never come back.

But the bottom line is, we need to control it and not let it dominate our own lives. There would be trouble, there would be pain, there would be sorrow but we can survive. Learn to let go and try to be free.

We all have those days where we look at our to-do list and cringe because the tasks seem insurmountable. But if we could turn to quick motivations, we might be able to turn the thought process around and get more done.

You can set yourself up for success by having quick motivators, literally within a few inches from where you are sitting. There are also techniques that can help you overcome overwhelming feelings so you will always have the motivation you need to get through any difficult situation.

Using Quick Motivation Tips to Move You Forward

One of the best ways to find motivation in times of stress is to break down the tasks into manageable chunks. Once you do this, suddenly the list won’t seem as insurmountable as you once thought. Look at your task list, determine what needs to get done first, and build momentum from there. You’ll find motivation by simply getting things done. You can do it all with a smile on your face and a bounce in your step! This is the way that most of us would like to live our lives, but without quick motivations, it can be difficult to do.

Using Positive Affirmations to Find the Motivation You Need

Many people find quick motivation in positive affirmations. Positive affirmations help you feel confident in your own skin so you can accomplish more and grow as an individual. Instead of allowing a negative internal dialogue to keep you from getting things done, you can use positive affirmations to help you stay focused every step of the way.

This will work even on days when you feel like nothing is going well and you can’t possibly get everything done.

You can start saying your affirmations when you start to feel negative about something you have to do, or if you sense negativity creeping into your work. You’ll be surprised at how quickly your whole mindset will change, if you are open to it.

Motivational Desktop Wallpapers, Yet Another Fast Motivator!

Another helpful tool is something most people would never consider: motivational desktop wallpapers. Motivational wallpapers can help you escape from the pressures that swirl around you so you can refresh your mind. The power of positive imagery can truly alter the course of your day!

Think about how many times a day you see your computer desktop. Are you getting enough motivation? Motivational wallpapers are one of the quickest ways to motivate yourself to push ahead.

With motivational wallpapers you always can have a motivational picture, quote, or both fingertips during the day. During those moments when you feel like pulling your hair out in frustration, you can minimize everything else on your screen and lose yourself in that picture or quote. You’d be surprised to find how motivational this method really can be! If you are looking for additional motivation, you can take some of your wallpaper images and quotes and turn them into screen savers. Your computer can be transformed from your enemy into your motivator. It’s your choice!

Despite the fact that success gurus recommend you to set goals, from the yearly, monthly then daily goals, have you ever wondered why you do not feel motivated to work on your own goals?

The success gurus say that setting goals is important, they state that you need to plan for success; if you do not plan, you plan to fail! However, why don’t you get motivated by the goals you set? Below are some of the reasons that may cause the blockage, check if any of the reasons below describe your conditions:

1. Unrealistic

Before you set your goals, have you to ensure that those goals are realistic and achievable? For example if you never become a millionaire, but your goal is to be a millionaire in 1 month without guidance then your goal is unrealistic. Instead, you should set your millionaire goal into a few years, and break it into small goals then it become more realistic.

2. Values Misalignment

Before you set your goals, it is important to ensure that your goals align with your values or your purpose in life. When people become disconnected from their values, they lose their motivation. For example, if a person’s main value is justice, and he sets a goal on becoming a millionaire in one year, there is no way he will feel motivate towards this financial goal especially if he does not feel that his main value—justice is fulfilled.

So when you set your goals, make sure they align with your own values. These goals are not what people tell you to set, but they are your own goals. In other words, if you want to achieve your goals, make sure they align with your values or purpose in life first.

3. Fear

Do you have any fears that keep you from achieving your goals? Any fear of rejection or fear of failure? Too concern about how people may perceive you when you tell them you want to be a millionaire? According to Bill Gates, if you want to be successful, you have to ignore rejection and self-esteem. Fear’s real function is to keep you safe. However, sometimes, it can paralyze you into inaction.

Have you ever experienced rejection, judgment, or embarrassment? Sure, we all have! It’s fear’s job to keep you safe from feeling those emotions. When you’re about to take a step toward success, you may think of 100 reasons not to take the step, and they all may be centered on fear. If fear over-control your life, you need to learn to handle it.

4. Thoughts

Is there any self-criticism in your unconscious mind when you set your goals? Check. Do you always have negative thoughts in your mind: “Stupid!! XXX(your name), you think you can really achieve this! Don’t fantasize anymore!” If yes, you need to learn to analyze why inner self-criticism occur, go to the root of the problem and solve it. Otherwise, there is no way you can achieve your goals.

5. Words

Start to analyze from now on with the words you use verbally or internally, are they all conducive towards your goals, or do the words actually sabotage your dreams or goals? Observe if you say…

• “ I’m not sure if I can achieve this dream” OR

• “I’ll try to make this dreams come true” OR

• “ I’m 100% committed to make my dream a success”

From the 1st statement, you may not even try to take any action for your goals because you don’t even believe if you can do it. Check for your reasons of doubt and solve it before you work towards your goals.

From the 2nd statement, you may put 50% effort or lesser to make your dream come true, because you are not even sure if you can achieve your dream.

From the 3rd statement, you will do everything it takes to make your dream come true!

Ask yourself, which type of sentence you usually use in your self-talk, as I have stated earlier on, the result for each statement, so speak wisely to yourself, and most importantly honor what you say to yourself. If not, how would others honor your word?

Do you manage your time or waste it little by little?

Most of us have very little concept of just how much time we fritter away. For instance, take a quick survey of how much time during the average week that you watch TV, surf the Internet, or any other time-consuming activity that may not directly contribute toward accomplishing your most desired goals.

If you find yourself thinking you don’t have enough time to finish what must be done, much less time to productively contribute to the goals you want to accomplish, you may be overdue for a realistic time evaluation.

And now you’re thinking. ’Take time to do a time evaluation?’ I know, if you don’t have enough time now, you certainly don’t have time to do an evaluation of your time. It’s ironic, but that is precisely when you need to take stock of your time management. Consider it an investment to gain better use of your time and to accelerate the achievement of your important goals.

Let’s look at an example of a typical time consuming indulgence. How often do you watch your favorite television shows or DVDs. Say you watch 3 one-hour shows each evening Monday through Friday, and over the weekend you view 3 to 6 hours of sports, a DVD, or some other entertaining show. If that’s the case, you have consumed 18 to 21 hours each week. That is a significant amount of time out of anyone’s week. Of course, there will also be other activities that don’t directly contribute to successfully achieving the things you really would like to accomplish.

If you are really serious about evaluating your time to see where it all goes, consider the following exercise. Track your time each day for a week in 30 or 60 minute increments. To do this right, you will have to commit to accurately documenting your activities.

Be honest as you note where your time is spent. This can be tricky, as you will certainly surprise yourself along the way. You may find it hard to admit just how much time is clearly nonproductive. It is just human nature to bounce from one activity to another without a lot of forethought.

Of course, we all have unexpected, but important things come up that require attention. Mark those down as necessary tasks.

If you adhere to this time evaluation exercise for at least one typical week, you will then learn how you are realistically spending your waking hours. You will soon develop a new perspective about your time priorities.

You may find that you actually like the way you are utilizing some of your time. But, what about the time that you discovered as being frittered away? The approach to making changes in your time planning can run from making a simple priority list each day to implementing a time management software program. Only you can decide which action will work best for you.

However, beginning with a simple approach is the best place to start. Figure out what your goals are, decide what must be done to accomplish those goals, and then breakdown the steps required to achieve the results you want. You may find that there are 3 to 4 specific tasks that must be done within a certain time frame if you are going to be successful. Those tasks become your priorities and the other daily duties simply follow behind.

The trick is to learn how to discipline yourself to adhere to the priorities you have set, and not be led astray at every turn. For someone who has difficulty managing time this will take practice. But, if you truly make a commitment to accomplishing your goals and set a time frame in which that must be completed, you will be on the right track.

With this knowledge in hand, you can now plan how you want to more productively use your future time. That is, how you will best use your time for greater efficiency, more successful results of your goals, and even how you want to respond to unexpected events or tasks.

Whether you want to quit smoking, loose weight, or save enough money for that fabulous vacation, you need to set a goal and try to achieve it one step at a time. It is not always easy. For myriad reasons, we fall off the wagon and never bother to get on board.

A commitment to achieving your goal is the key to success. But knowing how to reinforce your commitment from time to time so that you don’t go astray is also important. Reinforcing commitments regularly reminds us to catch the next train when we miss the one we are on board. The techniques described in this article will help you in reinforcing your commitments to achieving your goals.

1. Set your goals in measurable terms and take small steps. Write your goals as precisely as possible. Instead of saying “I will loose weight”, write down “I will loose 30 lbs in the next three months”. Also, break it down into small steps. For example, “I will loose 10 lbs a month for three months.”

By setting your goals in measurable terms, you will have a solid idea of what successful completion of your goal means. By breaking down into small steps, you will be able to measure your success regularly and change your course if you are not meeting your intermediate goals.

2. Create a tag line for your goal. Marketers use tag lines to catch people’s attention to their offerings. Remember the famous Coca Cola tagline – always coca cola? Tag lines are short keywords and phrases that are easy to remember. Create a tagline for your goal.

For example, if you want to save for a vacation and you need to reduce your vending machine spending, you can create a tagline like, vending machine vacation. Print out a number of cards with your tagline and put them in places where your can see your tagline all the time.

The phrase in a tag line itself is not that important. What is important is the emotional attachment to the tagline. Speak out your tagline whenever you are alone, e.g. during driving, while taking a shower, etc.

3. Always day dream the success of completing your goal. As bad as it sounds, it is a very powerful tool. Once you get immersed in your day dreams, start developing emotional feelings about it. Make plans for all the things you are going to do once you have achieved your goal.

For example, plan for what you are going to do in your vacation, look around for dresses that you want to buy once you have lost those pounds, or open a new saving account where you want to put the extra money once you start reducing the number of cigarettes you smoke.

4. Start a blog. Personal blog is an excellent way to record your goals, intermediate successes and failures. Google offers a free blog platform called blogger. Create an account for the blogger service and start recording your goals, why you want to pursue it, what is holding you back and your feelings when you achieve success.

Start reading a few self improvement blogs, post comments on those blogs, and share links to those blogs in your own posts. You will get lots of good ideas and insights from others’ blogs and receive tips and encouragements from readers’ feedbacks in your own blog. Your blog will motivate others to take actions. You can also earn money from Google’s AdSense program.

5. Create a facebook group and invite others to join you in setting and achieving goals together. This is a new type of social support group using social media. You will learn from each others and share information to keep everybody on track. Publish your blog posts and other interesting and informative posts from other blogs in your facebook group.

To achieve your goal, you have to take small bites one at a time and measure your success regularly. You need to get engaged and develop emotional attachment to your goals. Online tools like blogs and facebook groups help you develop passions and share them with others.

You would be surprised to find out exactly how many people are having a difficult time with low self-esteem. Even when somebody seems to be extremely confident in themselves, it is often only a mask in order to hide the fact that they are also dealing with a lack of confidence. If this seems to be a problem for you, there are some things that you can do which will help you to overcome it. It is important for you to understand, however, that this type of problem is not going to be something that is cured overnight. As a matter of fact, it may take many months or perhaps even years of persistence on your part in order for you to totally erase your lack of self-esteem.

The first step in learning how to have confidence in yourself is that you need to be able to see yourself as you actually are. Believe it or not, many of the people who deal with a lack of self-confidence are individuals that others enjoy being around. If you were to ask them honestly, one of the only problems that they may have with you is the fact that you do not have enough confidence in yourself. Try to be objective whenever you’re looking at yourself and your activities. You might be surprised to find out that people do not view you in the same way as you view yourself. Many of the things that you consider to be bad about yourself, other people simply don’t recognize.

If your self-confidence is very deep-rooted, it may be necessary for you to seek some professional advice in order to overcome it. Of course, it always helps to be able to talk to a trusted friend or family member but there may be times whenever we would need to speak to a counselor about our situation. Many times, our lack of confidence springs from situations that we may not feel comfortable speaking about in front of somebody that we know intimately. A counselor should be able to give you an objective look at these different things and to help to give you some encouragement and even exercises that would give you a boost in your self-esteem rather quickly.

Unfortunately, many of us are not able to afford professional counseling for something such as a lack of confidence in ourselves. There are many self-help books that are available which will walk you through a number of different processes in order to boost your confidence. Some of these will deal with specific problems that you may have and that may be at the root of your lack of self-confidence. By seeing these different things through other people’s eyes, you may actually be able to recognize that the root of the problem is not worthy of a lack of self-confidence on your part. Often, these books will also give you exercises that will help you to get over any specific problems that you may be dealing with.

If the answer to that question is a resounding Yes!, you are not alone since billions of people out there in the world are having the exact same dream. If that’s the case, how come the people who do achieve success in life still only represent a tiny fraction of the whole multitude. Have you ever asked yourself why it is so? Well, I sure did and I found out that many of us are taking a lot of things for granted in our lives and this causes us to lose our own opportunities to finally taste success.

Do You Know the Formula Of Success In Life?

To tell you the truth, there is, unfortunately, no such thing as a formula for success in life. If you think about it, that would mean that no rich person would have ever been a failure. To reach success, you must fight to reach it through extreme perseverance and determination. Want to know another secret ingredient to success: hard work! In fact, success is a capsule combination, as without hard work, perseverance and determination have no meaning at all.

As in many other things in life, there is no doubt that success also comes at a price. You will be among the few lucky ones if you find that price negotiable. But, don’t forget that a great number of successful people realize that the price is sometimes too high. They will also find it quite difficult to bear, particularly when this translates in neglecting their spouse, letting life passing them by while they focus only on their goals and even neglecting their children.

Success in life also depends on other factors. Think simply at the ability to stay focus even if the worst obstacles come in your path, the ability to believe in yourself when things don’t go as planned, the ability to see your goal clearly all the time and, best of all, the ability to dream and do everything you can to reach out for that dream absolutely convinced that it can become a reality.

If you interview some people who have achieved success in life, the majority will tell you that they never courted success. No. They simply did what they loved, but did it well. Success just happened during that process. So, you want a formula for success in life? Well, this might be the closest you can get to having one. Simply be passionate about what you’re doing. It might be work, relationship, a better you, sport performance, etc. Do what it takes to be the best there is in your field; success will just happen along because you believe it can.

Do you know the biggest difficulty out there in achieving success in life? It’s not the obstacles that you will encounter in your path. Rather, it will be the temptation to quit and stop struggling. The greatest difficulty that you will ever encounter on your road to success is fighting against this temptation. However, if you can fight this temptation and the day that you’ll be in complete control and stop considering quitting, I can promise you that you will be able to achieve total success in life.

Ever felt like you are down in the dumps because of the multitudes of problems that you have to face at home and at work? There are certain factors which make you feel inferior in comparison to your peers. If ever you are one of those who experience such things, then it is probably time for you to seek some self improvement ideas in order for you to lift up your spirits once more.

Some people think that change is not a favorable part of life. They think that change can do much to worsen one’s life, because you will have to do away with some, if not all of your old ways in your lifestyle. However, everyone of us should not feel that way about change. Life is often described as being dynamic and upbeat. People need change to constantly improve themselves so as they would not have a stagnant take in their personal lives and as well as their careers. Change imposes a good deal of advantage for most of us. It is very important for us to constantly seek for self improvement ideas to grow so as we would be fulfilled. For the doubting, here are some of the ways on how to improve yourself.

First, pay attention to your appearance. Take pride on your features. Develop them to the fullest. We may think that people are quite vain when they spend time in making themselves look good, but this is not so, once that you do not do this excessively. It is good to hear if people would praise us for the way we look, and that is only possible if we take good care of physical appearances.

Second, do not forget to take the time off. Others who are overworked tend to be cranky because they haven’t gotten enough time to be with themselves and their families. Take the time off once in a while. Learn to appreciate the arts by visiting museums and theater shows, or simply just watch a movie out with your loved ones. This may be a trivial thing for you, but it certainly gives us the time off from all of the complexities that life brings us.

Third, learn the importance of volunteering. Nowadays, all of us always seek fees whenever we are asked to do something. It may be quite hard, but why don’t you try volunteering for a cause? You may work in charitable institutions and put into mind that you are actually helping other people out with a minimum amount of pay. Volunteering will help a lot of people, and it may bring some psychic rewards for you. You would certainly feel good if you know that you are able to help those who are in need.

The last suggestion for self improvement ideas is to reevaluate your life. Take some time alone and meditate on the life that you have. This will enable you to have more clarity about the things going on in your life.

Everyone wants to be successful. That is why many doctors and even nurses do their best to improve their craft. They see to it that they are well informed of the new medicines and procedures that is coming out even in the other countries. They update themselves of the current events regarding medical aspects. They see to it that they are giving more than hundred percent when they are working. Hence, even though they are in their landau medical scrubs for almost 2 days, they always see to it that they are delivering their job well. However, some nurses and doctors get tired of the unending night shifts and on calls that they feel that they are taking for granted their loved ones and families. They feel that they are losing their personal lives because of their jobs. This is a common phenomenon but as always said, in a world where jobs are scarce and education is limited to chosen few, having a good and high paying work has its price.

Many jobs are taking too much time We only have twenty four hours a day and yet the jobs assigned to us need a minimum of thirty hours each day. Whether you are a doctor, nurse or a lawyer and even just a simple employee, you need to balance everything. Remember that you are doing your job because you want to feed and give a good life to your family. What would you do of a promising career if you don’t have a love one anymore, right? The secret is to have a balance in everything that you do. Quality time is often praised than a whole day of doing nothing. Yes, there are priorities but it doesn’t mean that you have to let go of the things not written on the number one.

If your work entails working in the office for more than twenty four hours like doctors and nurses, then focus on your job during these times. However, when you are going to take off your landau scrub, you have to let go also of your worries at work and instead focus on your family and loves ones. Spend time with your kids or friends and do things that would give you some relaxation such as visiting parks and nature watching. Leave your problems at work once you leave your office. Give your full attention to your family now that you are with them.

Of course, you have to give some time to your self also. If you and your family went out the last time you had a long vacation from work, why don’t you give yourself the leisure of being alone and pampering your self. You may go to the parlors or spa’s to relax and unwind and focus on your needs. This way, you are removing stress from your self and at the same time enjoying your hard-earned money for yourself. You would be able to appreciate more your life if you are balanced in everything.

Improvement in one’s work is a virtue that everyone must pursue. Nobody, not even the employee and especially the boss, wants to have an employee being stuck in the kind of work he is doing. Everyone wants to see that there is growth in one’s work or company. This is not only to increase profits or give better service but at the same time to make yourself more marketable in your field and increase your options at work. This could mean a promotion to your company or perhaps being asked by other companies offering you better options commensurate with higher salaries. Of course, working is not only about improving one’s life but being able to make use of your talents and helping others at the most efficient way.

If you feel that you are in a glut of improvement or that you feel that you need a push for further improvements, here are some simple ways to follow to show a change in your personality or perspective in working:

Individuality and Style.

You may have been working in a hospital as a nurse or a doctor and almost all of the nurses and doctors are wearing the same kind of uniform such as landau medical scrubs, hence, you don’t exert effort to look better or to give importance to your comfort and style. This is a wrong notion. Experts say that even though people wear the same clothes, there is still a mark difference that is noticeable and sends a strong message what kind of wearer that he is. So check your medical scrubs once again and ask yourself if it is giving you comfort and that if it is imposing individuality or maybe it makes you only one of those faces wearing the same kind of uniform. If you think that it is not giving you positive reinforcement, you might want to throw in the trash can and buy a better one.

Enjoy your work

Remember that you might be working on something that is not actually what you dream of ten or five years ago. You tend to comply how you don’t like your work, how you get tired everyday and how you look forward to moving to another office or maybe even a job. Admit and accept that not everyone can have the dream job they want but everyone can impose on themselves to enjoy what they are doing. Basically, job satisfaction is a state of mind. If you focus on being positive instead of ranting everyday how you hate your work, your whole personality will grow and it will surely affect how you work, how you deal with your co-workers and how you serve with your patients.

Lead a Life of Success.

Many people think that success is measured through earnings or owning a company. If people think this way, then we can say that only a few will be successful. This is a misconception. Success is also a state of mind. If you believe that you are successful and you know that you are enjoying your life, then you will earn positive energies in your work and personal life. You lessen your worries and at the same time you give your best shot at anything you do. You are more happy and relaxed even though you are loaded with work. Fulfillment is just within your reach and as you take off your landau scrub you will feel the glow of being able to help people and do your job best.
